Fix A Golf Slice - Don't Waste Your Time And Money

By Dave Smith

Many new golfers have the thought of fixing their slice. Statistics have shown that more than 80% of all new golfers have a slice problem. Now, you can find so many training aids and drills to correct the golf slice that I can't even count them.

Have you ever taken any lessons to fix your golf slice? Or have you got any of those miracle training aids several times just to end up with the same unsolved problem? Isn't that frustrating? Have you noticed what's the actual problem?

A golf slice is caused by the club-face coming across the ball from outside the target line, creating side-spin on the ball. Upon first thought, this may seem like a mechanical issue. And it is...but if you dig a little deeper, you'll find it's a 'physical' issue.

You see...your body dictates your ability to swing the club efficiently. If your body has 'physical limitations', your swing will not be mechanically sound and swing faults will appear.

In the golf swing there are many compensations for lack of proper mechanics. If you can't make a 90 degree shoulder turn on the back-swing, you'll do whatever it takes to feel like you are making a full turn.

Looking for a good example of this case would be to turn your hips beyond the 45 degrees that gives you access to make a full back-swing. What this does is that it robs you of capability. You have absolutely no torque in you to release into the ball at impact.

It is the same thing with a golf slice

A golf slice is just the result of your upper body going before your lower body. This creates an over-the-top move, which turns into the club-face biting the ball creating a side-spin. That is how the banana ball shows up.

Your first inclination would be to go get golf lessons to fix your slice. If that does not work, then you get a training aid. If that doesn't work either, you might go and get an offset driver to help you correct your slice issue.

Is that your case?

The real solution! Forget about your lessons. Stop buying training aids. And also maintain your normal driver in your bag.

You need to work on you core rotational flexibility to be able to initiate the downswing with your lower body first, to avoid the upper body getting ahead of it. It's that simple. The minute your able to separate the upper and lower body upon initial move down...you'll see that golf slice improve dramatically.

Does it make sense to you?

Along with fixing your golf slice, you'll add up to 30 yards to your drives. You will get more roll when the ball lands from a draw ball flight. A golf slice is a weak shot that does not penetrate the air for maximum distance.
