Looking For A Wonderful Movie? Check Out These Good Movie Commentaries

By Sylvester Salazar

It is the most excellent solution to getting movies that my family of movie buffs has ever found. Sorry movie rentals, sorry movie stores but we are saying "bye, bye"!

Sugar Town - Amusing variety of LA life characterizing a handful of characters whose lives join together - a musician would-be who'll do anything to get ahead, an uptight lone woman who allures the unsuitable men like a magnet, and a band made up of cleaned-up '80s rock stars, to name a few. Made on a shoestring, although intelligent and well recognized; superb cast comprises a variety of actual musicians. Cast includes Ally Sheedy, Rosanna Arquette, John Taylor, Jade Gordon, Michael Des Barres, Lucinda Jenney, and Martin Kemp. (92 minutes,'99)

The Horse Whisperer - After her daughter is gravely injured in a horse riding accident, her affluent mother takes the horse to a well-known horse whisperer in Montana. A romance between the two follows.

Solar Crisis: Futuristic sci-fi thriller with Matheson leading a save the Earth mission to the sun to stop a solar flash from annihilating the world. Fine visual effects and gripping story in space harmed by world pranks of poor boy Boyle who absurdly wants to undermine the mission. Cast includes Tim Matheson, Charlton Heston, Peter Boyle, and Annabel Schofield. (112 minutes,'90)

High Crimes - Lawyer Claire Kubik has just been informed that her husband is not who she thinks he is. Tom Kubik is really Ron Chapman, and he is on trial in the military justice system for the slaying of villagers in Latin America. Claire takes on the case but just what will she discover, as the facts are unraveled?

Barnyard - Animated foolishness set on a farm where, after sundown, the animals turn the barn into a boisterous nightclub. James is Otis, a youthful cow who is very mature, much to the chagrin of his dad, Ben Elliott, who keeps watch for preying coyotes when the others party. Dom Irrera stands out as Duke the Dog. Cast includes Courtney Cox, Sam Elliott, Danny Glover, Wanda Sykes, Andie MacDowell, David Koechner, and Laraine Newman. (90 minutes, 2006)
