Haunted House in Poptropica

By Parker Simpson

There is a new special mini-mission available in Poptropica, the very popular online game for kids. This mini-mission is called the Haunted House. It is designed for Halloween and is only available for a very limited time. In this spooky and scary mini-mission, your job is to sneak into a creepy Haunted House and find a bunch of items. You'll have to solve many different puzzles along the way, but if you get them all, you'll be rewarded with a really fun party at the end.

To start the Poptropica Haunted House, you just need to click on the small promotion for it on the Poptropica map. If you don't see the promotion there, it probably means that this special event is over. But don't worry, because they'll probably release something like it next year. But if you are able to click on it, then get ready for a fun mission. You'll arrive in a spooky graveyard. The first thing you need to do is figure out how to get inside the house, which is located over to the left of the graveyard. You'll see a bat flying around the house and it is carrying a key. You must catch the bat to get the key from him. This key will unlock the cellar door on the left side of the house and this is the way you must go in.

The cellar contains the very first puzzle you must solve in this mission. You need to rotate the pieces of pipe that you see so that the boiler and the furnace are connected. Click on a piece of pipe to rotate it 90 degrees, or one quarter turn, each time. Once you have all the pieces connected, the boiler will start up and steam will shoot out of the top. Jump up on the steam and you will get carried to a platform up above. There is a bottle of red liquid. Grab it and you have your next item!

There are some stairs out of the cellar over on the right. Go there to get inside the house and start to look for the other items. The first one you'll want to get is the ice. This is inside the fridge, but before you can get ice cubes from it, you need to get the pickaxe from the knight statue on the second floor. Go up there and then jump on the statue's head. It will drop the axe it is holding, which you can then pick up and use to get the ice from the fridge.

Next you want to get the lantern. Go all the way upstairs to the bedroom and click on the clocks on the mantle. The way to solve this puzzle is to get both clocks to strike midnight at the same time. If you put your cursor over one clock it starts to spin a little faster. This is how you can get them to catch up to each other. When you get this puzzle done, you'll get the lantern.

Next you need to get into the attic. But the trick to getting there is to find something that lets you fly. This is the broom in the painting of the witch. Here's what you do. Run over and click on the spider on the floor in the hall to get it to drop down. It will scare the witch in the painting and she will drop her broom. Now go stand on the broom and you can fly. Use it to go up into the attic and then go all the way to the left. You'll see a chest. Click on it and you'll do a sliding puzzle. This is really easy to solve if you pay close attention because all you need to do is the same moves you see but in reverse order. When you get the slider puzzle picture of the skull back into place you'll get the chalice.

The next step is to go talk to the ghost cat downstairs in the parlor next to the kitchen. The cat will tell you to light the lantern. You can do this by going back into the cellar and clicking on the barrel marked with the word kerosene. Then go back and talk to the cat one more time and he'll tell you to bring the treasures to where the cherub cries. This means to go back to the graveyard where you started. There's a big statue of a crying angel but now there's a hole in the ground next to it. Click on the hole to go down and you'll arrive at a special Halloween party.

You'll get a reward of 50 Poptropica Credits for completing this mission and you'll be able to use your costumizer power to copy any of the costumes you see here. There are a lot of choices so have fun because you deserve it after solving this special Poptropica mini-quest.
