How to Become a Good Paintball Sniper

By Buck Reynolds

A sniper in the game of paintball needs a marker appropriate for his task and the most suitable for him is a paintball sniper. However, there is a variety of it in the market. The problem now is how to choose the best. Selecting the right paintball sniper for a player requires the understanding of the gun, its barrel and the type of air system used.

A simple tactic of a paintball sniper is that he hides himself in a spot where the opponents will not see him and will just pass by his hiding place. Once the opponent passes the hiding place, the sniper then shoots at the back of the unsuspecting opponent thus eliminating him from the game.

Both forward and rear snipers should be able to conceal their selves in order to make a clear and accurate shot. The best way for a forward sniper to hide is to use the field itself. Taking advantage of the surroundings like the bushes, trees and rocks would be the best way. As much as possible, the forward sniper should make sure that he and his equipment is invisible. On the contrary, the rear sniper should not position his self just behind the flag. The best position would be to position at an angle with the flag. It would be better if the opposing team will pass between the sniper and the flag rather than the sniper shooting past the flag.

A paintball sniper moves alone in the battlefield which makes him vulnerable to a group attack. It is therefore important for him to keep hiding until the right time comes for him to attack. The best time to attack for a paintball sniper is when the opponent has passed his location and the opponent's back is facing the sniper. When the sniper is spotted, it will be sure that a counter measure will be taken by the opposing team so a sniper must be witty enough to find another hiding place where he can be an offensive threat to the opponent.

The last thing a player should consider is the sound the marker makes and the sight rails. As mentioned earlier, it would be favorable to the sniper if the marker he is using has a low sound so that he could not be easily noticed by his opponents. Sight rails are also not really that important for a paintball sniper. It only makes the marker heavier so as much as possible, discard it. The only purpose it has is to make the paintball marker look genuine.

Sometimes paintball snipers will also use sniper scopes to get a better aim at the target. It is not advised to use sniper scopes if the range of the target is not that far. It works with the logic that the farther the target, the less accurate it becomes and therefore, a missed shot can be a sign to the opposing team as to the hiding place of the sniper. It is important that a sniper knows the limits of his gun so that he will not make a crucial mistake of giving out his position. His best friends will be his gun and his hiding place if one of the two is taken away from the sniper it will be sure that he will be eliminated from the game.
